Adult Faith Formation

Through the energy and imagination of parishioners, the Adult Faith Formation (AFF) program continues to develop.  Offerings are intended to help adults not only deepen their own faith commitment, but also to do so in community.

In order to see current and upcoming events for Adult faith Formation, please click here for the Fall 2014 schedule.  For updated information, consult the upcoming events on the homepage or check the parish bulletin available online or at the church.

Typically, the following are a part of a year’s programming:

Sunday Morning Discussions

Events often include, in rotation:

  • Parents + More Workshops, a more extended series of dialogues on  living the faith;
  • occasional “Conversations with Jesuits” on traditional or contemporary theological, social or political issues;
  • a series of lectures, geared to RCIA participants, but open to all parishioners, so that they might refresh or deepen their understanding of particular area of the Catholic faith.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Week Sunday sessions focus on the formation of those wishing to become Roman Catholics and for those already Catholic who have not received First Eucharist or Confirmation and thus seek to be fully initiated Catholics.  For Further information, please contact Mary Romo at romom@usfca.edu or (415) 422-6033.

Fall Lecture Series

A Parish tradition now invites guest speakers, experts in a variety of fields, who are free to join us for the summer.  Often the lectures have been sponsored together with the Joan and Ralph Lane Center for Catholic Studies and Social Thought at the University of San Francisco. For further information, please contact Dan Faloon at faloon@usfca.edu or (415) 422-2195.

Art and Religion Events

Over the past few years occasional courses on art have been scheduled on such topics as Women in the Bible and the Image of Christ. Exhibitions and related programs sponsored by the Manresa Gallery have added significantly to the discussion of art as a means for doing theology.  The eventual opening of an Emmaus Center in a west church alcove will further enhance opportunities for education and meditation on visual imagery. For further information on art plans, please contact Fr. Jim Blaettler, S.J. at jrblaettler@usfca.edu.
