St. Ignatius and the Good Word Book Club are sponsoring a reading and discussion opportunity for the entire parish. James Martin S.J. has written The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything, which was on the New York Times Bestseller List for many weeks. We have chosen his book for the entire parish to read and enjoy.
John L. Allen, Jr., author of The Future Church, has declared “Martin is arguably the best writer on Catholic spirituality…This book is a winner!” And USA today says “Martin’s book becomes like a read-along spiritual director…to help you discern where God may be speaking to you.”
Our plan is to read the book throughout the year to learn more about the Ignatian Spirituality that underlies everything we do at St. Ignatius Parish. We will have facilitated discussion groups on two chapters of the book after all Masses once a month. We kicked off the reading project in mid-February and will continue until November. The Book Club has just completed their discussion of the book and found it to be very energizing and great fun.
We hope that you will want to participate! We also hope to have a key note presentation by the author, James Martin, S.J. sometime during the coming year. You will have a chance to ask the questions that come up during your monthly discussion group sessions.
