Follow-up to "Reporting from Rome"

As a follow-up to the discussion "Reporting from Rome: Pope Francis' Synod of Bishops," an Adult Faith Formation lecture with Joshua McElwee, Fr. Greg promised three things:

• A link to the new podcast by Josh McElwee and Chris White, Vatican correspondent for NCR: The Vatican Briefing. 

Here also is the Synod Synthesis Report in English on the Vatican Website. Each paragraph voted on required a ⅔ majority to be in the report. This will be the starting document for the second session, next October.

Speaker Bio:

Joshua J. McElwee, who gave the talk, is a journalist who has been widely recognized for his in-depth reporting and penetrating analysis on the leadership of the global Catholic Church. He is currently the news editor for the National Catholic Reporter, the world's premier independent Catholic newspaper. McElwee previously served as the Reporter's Vatican correspondent from 2014-21, where his dispatches from Rome and during papal trips abroad were frequently cited by his peers, and were broadly seen as a touchstone for nuanced Vatican and papal coverage.

In October 2023, McElwee co-led the Reporter's coverage in Rome of Pope Francis' major summit on the future of the Catholic Church. He and Vatican correspondent Christopher White provided some of the most revealing reports from the Synod of Bishops, offering readers a real sense of what was happening beyond the doors of the assembly.
