Welcome Rosie Costa! Rosie comes to us most recently from Sacred Heart Cathedral High School where she taught World History and AP Art History. We are excited that she is already coordinating children's Catholic education and sacramental preparation here at St. Ignatius Parish alongside staff and ministries. Learn about Rosie in this short interview—and when you see her be sure to ask about Children’s Faith Formation, becoming a catechist and family catechesis too!
What about your background helped you prepare for this opportunity?
While studying at Tulane University, I rediscovered my faith and my identity within the Catholic Church. This sparked a deep curiosity about my faith, and I embraced opportunities to learn more. I took courses in Italian and Anthropology, my two majors, including one I especially enjoyed on Dante’s Divine Comedy. After graduating, I spent a year as a missionary with SPIRITUS in Wisconsin, where I helped lead retreats for youth. I then spent a wonderful year teaching World History and AP Art History at Sacred Heart Cathedral High School. These experiences have deepened my passion for accompanying young people on their spiritual journeys.
Why is Children’s Faith Formation so important?
Faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation on which we build meaningful and fulfilling lives. In building this foundation—the earlier the better!
