Need A Little Help at Home, or Know a Parishioner Who Does?
We’re re-booting the Neighbor to Neighbor ministry at St. Ignatius, and although the “official” re-boot will be at Masses on the weekend of March 8/9, we are reaching out now to parishioners who can use a helping hand from time to time. This ministry is available for only St. Ignatius parishioners, who will be helped by other parishioners.
Examples of how Neighbor to Neighbor can help:
Providing a home-cooked meal when someone is sick or hospitalized.
Bringing ready-to-cook meals for New Baby Respite time for the family.
Visiting or calling elderly parishioners, just to chat and see how things are going.
Driving people to the doctor for those who have a hard time with public transportation.
Changing a light bulb that is too high for someone to reach.
Doing occasional grocery shopping.
Providing rides to Sunday Mass.
Bringing Eucharist to the home-bound.
Walking with someone who had a stroke and needs some exercise.
If you would like some help, or know a parishioner who does, please send an email to [email protected] with “Request” in the subject field, or call this number and leave a message: 415-407-4414
If you would like to VOLUNTEER to be a Neighbor to Neighbor helper, you can send an email to [email protected] with “Volunteer” in the subject field or sign up in person with the N2N Ministry team at any Mass on the March 8-9 weekend.
How does this work for Volunteers? Volunteers will be on an email list, and when a request comes in, an email goes out to the whole list to see who can respond to the request for assistance. Putting your name on the volunteer list means you will get an email each time a service is requested. It does not mean you are required to fill that particular need. You can choose at your convenience how and when you would like to help out.
In addition to the usefulness of this program in a neighborly sort of way, the program builds strong relationships among our parishioners, and brings to life our Jesuit commitment to Service. We hope to see you on our list!
