Dear Sisters and Brothers,
As you know, St. Ignatius Parish is sponsoring a refugee family of four from Venezuela while they navigate their way through the asylum-seeking process of the U.S. immigration system. Since late January, Daniella and Cesar Lopez, and their daughters Alahia (age 4) and Angelita (age 1), have been living in one bedroom of parishioner Naomi Mayer’s home. They need a place of their own.
We are looking for an affordable one-bedroom apartment for the family or a live-in situation where Cesar and Daniella could work in exchange for housing. Daniella could provide housekeeping and caretaking services while Cesar could work as a handyman on weekends; he is employed full-time as a painter. Daniella and Cesar speak Spanish, but they are learning English. Alahia is enrolled in St. Anne of the Sunset’s preschool (and is becoming one of her parents’ best teachers of English!). Angelita would be at home with Daniella during the day. The Lopez family would make wonderful companions for an older person.
We are asking all our parishioners to please give prayerful thought to the Lopez family’s need for housing. If you have any questions, offers, suggestions or referrals, please contact Annette Lomont at [email protected] or 415.844.0262.
I have spent time with our family. They are kind, lovely people, filled with joy and gratitude. I am happy to be a reference for them, as is Naomi Mayer. Naomi describes Daniella and Cesar as loving, hardworking, trustworthy, and respectful, and she says their daughters are delightful.
Thank you for your consideration and help!
As always,
oremus pro invicem.
Fr. Greg
