Children's Faith Formation at St. Ignatius Parish is a 1st through 8th grade program that focuses on forming students to develop a personal relationship with God, an emerging sense of authentic self, and an orientation toward service with a heart for justice through Ignatian pedagogy in keeping with the Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus, namely, the call to accompany the young in the creation of a hope-filled future. Our program includes preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. St. Ignatius Parish also offers the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults adapted for Children for youngsters who have reached the age of reason (typically 7) and not been baptized. All participants in our Children's Faith Formation program must be registered parishioners. Please contact Lisa Freese for information on these programs.
Core Principles:
Children's Faith Formation classes for grades 1-6 meet weekly on Sundays from September through May from 11:15 am to 12:00 pm. Confirmation preparation classes (Years 1 and 2) meet roughly bi-weekly from 6:15-7:15 pm. All classes are meeting via ZOOM for the 2021-2022 year. Classes do not meet on holiday weekends or during Christmas and Easter break.
Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is a weekly video series which brings the message of the Gospel to children and families in their own words. New videos are available most Sundays in the chat during our 10 am Livestream Mass.
