Children's Faith Formation

February 12 Updates: 

• There will be a mandatory meeting for First Communion Year 2 parents in the Good Shepherd room after class on 2/23.

• Important dates: 

  • First Reconciliation March 22nd from 9:30 - 11:30 am 
  • First Communion May 4th at 10 am.
  • Confirmation May 1st from 4:30 - 6:30 pm

Children’s Faith Formation is for children between the ages of 6 and 17 who would like to learn more about their Catholic faith and/or prepare for their sacraments. Volunteer catechists accompany our youth during preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.

New Families

First, if you are not yet a parishioner of St. Ignatius, please register as a new parishioner at St. Ignatius. Second, enroll in faith formation.

Returning Families

If you are a returning family, you should have received a registration email. If not, please contact [email protected].

When We Meet

Classes meet Sundays between September and May, but not on holiday weekends or during Christmas and Easter break.

• First Communion & First Reconciliation Preparation, years one and two, and Children’s Faith Formation Grades 3-6 meet Sunday mornings from 11:30 am to 12:15/30 pm. 
• Confirmation preparation classes, years one and two, meet on Sunday evenings following the 5:00 pm Mass, from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm. Confirmation classes for both years include attendance at the 5 pm Mass on Sunday.

• Love God‍: Using the Loyola Press Finding God curriculum, our classes engage students' hearts, minds, and souls as they come to grow in relationship with God.
• Serve others‍: Integrating Catholic teaching into daily life means living as disciples who seek to serve. Families will have the opportunity to participate in service throughout the year.‍
• Be yourself‍: Children will be given the tools for discernment and prayer to uncover who they are called to be as a child of God.

• Inquiry Form: please fill out our inquiry jot form
• Virtus: please register and train to protect our children via our Safe Church program Virtus.
• Livescan: Livescan - kindly provide a fingerprint background by registering at your local Livescan location. Bring 2 copies of this PDF with you. St. Ignatius Parish will cover any fees, via reimbursing any valid receipts submitted to the Parish office at 650 Parker Ave SF 94118.

Children's Liturgy of the Word
This ministry brings the message of the Gospel to children and families in their own words. Children (ages Pre-K through Grade 4) meet with adult leaders during the Liturgy of the Word at the 10 am Mass on most Sundays. 

Youth Ministry
This program serves youth, ages 8 to 18, and their need for connection in the context of faith, service and community.
