This year for our Midwinter Event, we have decided to have a Cake Walk on Sunday, February 27th, outdoors after the 10:00am mass. This is the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, a wonderful way to celebrate Mardi Gras.
What is a Cake Walk? A “Cake Walk” is similar to musical chairs. In this case, we draw a circle on the ground with numbers for each participant. The walk begins when the music starts and the participants walk around the circle as the music continues. When the music stops, the participant moves to the nearest number and a volunteer pulls a number and the participant with that corresponding number wins the cake.
We are looking for Co-Chairs and volunteers for the Cake Walk! The chair/s for the Cake Walk will gather assistants and direct volunteers. With the assistance of St. Ignatius Parish staff, the chair will seek volunteers from the parish to organize setting up the “walk," fill a basket with numbered pieces of paper, set up the prize table with cakes, arrange music, sell tickets, run the Cake Walk, and clean up afterwards.
