Dear ARC supporter,
On behalf of the St. Ignatius Parish Anti-Racism Committee (ARC), we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you who participated in our November 8 Multilingual Immigrant Storytellers' Circle. This event not only highlighted the voices of members of our sanctuary families—Cesar, Danihella, Cristian, Marjorie, and Manuel—but was also the signature event, and Part III of, the ARC’s 2024 Spiritual Exercises on Race and Migration, "Bringing All to God's Table."
The stories shared during the event were a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of God's creation, and a call to continue dismantling the misconceptions that divide us. We hope that, like us, you found inspiration and hope in the stories of those who have experienced the challenges of migration, and still found faith in the face of adversity.
We were deeply moved by the surprising turnout, and the spirit of compassion that filled the room. As Fr. Greg noted during the event, we anticipate that “the cost of following Jesus” will grow steeper in the days ahead. So, we pray that the Storytelling Circle generates in all of us a renewed understanding and commitment to forging spaces of belonging for people of all colors, tongues, and nations at God’s Table– starting here, at St. Ignatius.
If you feel moved, please let us know (at [email protected]) if you would be willing to share any of your reflections from this event with the wider parish community in the following months. This would be part of the final stage of our Exercises to highlight and reflect on any fruits from this year’s event series.
Until then, may we continue to work together to build a more just and compassionate world.
In solidarity,
Your St. Ignatius Parish ARC
